Why The Name

Why the name? Well, I think it kind of speaks for itself.  Having 3 young children, my wife and I spend most of our waking hours trying to nurture them and, ideally, raise them to be happy, successful, productive & God fearing citizens of the world.  As those of you who have children know, the hobbies typically get stuffed on a shelf.  For about 7 years now I have been working on my genealogy (family tree).  More on how I got started with this in a later post.  With the amount of travel that I have had to do recently, for work, I find myself in hotel rooms with much free time on my hands.  Many who travel for work find all sorts of ways to spend there time, I choose to use mine researching.
If I could go to the "H's" in the library and pull off the Hettinger family history book, I would be interested, and probably excited about it; however, I have found that the hunt is much more exciting.  Through the course of 7 years I have found many intriguing and sad things about my (and my wife's) families and have collected hundreds, if not thousands, of documents, pictures and heirlooms.  I want to be able to share what I find with those who are interested, related or not, and hope to use this blog to do so.  I don't know where this will go, and only have a few ideas for what to post here, so I am excited to have you along on this journey of digging for my roots, while making sure that I still focus most of my time nurturing my 3 precious, young and impressionable leaves!
